Skills Obtained at Mental Health First Aid
By the end of the workshop, participants will be better able to:
- The potential risk factors and warning signs for a range of mental health needs, including: depression, anxiety/trauma, psychosis, eating disorders, substance use disorders, and self-injury.
- An understanding of the prevalence of various mental health disorders in the U.S. and the need for reduced stigma in their communities
- A 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to assess the situation, to select and implement appropriate interventions, and to help the individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional care
- The professional, peer, social, and self-help resources available to help someone with a mental health need
CEUs have been approved for North Dakota social workers, law enforcement, nurses, and EMS professionals for this mental health training.
The class is October 28 and 29 from 1:00-5:00pm both days.
This course is valued at $170 per participant by the National Council for Behavioral Health, but is being provided for free by the ND Department of Health.
