Campus Outreach Opportunity League (COOL)

Campus Outreach Opportunity League (COOL) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the education and empowerment of college students to strengthen our nation through community service. Use the Online Resource Center to link to other campuses and service programs, connect with students and alumni for support, and find tools and advice for service. Learn about the annual COOL National Conference on Student and Community Service, the COOL Leadership Curriculum, and other organizations working to involve students in community service.

Center for Youth As Resources

Established 1987 by the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), Youth As Resources is a community-based program that provides small grants to young people to design and carry out service projects that address social problems and contribute to significant community change. This site illustrates how to start a local YAR movement and provides ideas on how youth can serve in the community.

Do Something

Do Something is a nationwide nonprofit organization that encourages youth to help build their communities. Through the Do Something Action Guide, young volunteers can choose a cause and find out what they can do to improve their community. The free membership connects interested youth to a nationwide network of their peers. Through the Do Something Network in America’s schools, young people work with educators, or Community Coaches, to give voice to their own vision of community change and then design and implement specific community projects to turn their ideas into action.

FamilyCares, operated by the Child Charitable Development Association, Inc., assists parents and families by providing ideas for meaningful opportunities to help others in their local and global communities. The site also offers tips on educating children about social issues and teaching them they have a responsibility to make the world a better place.

Foundation of America - Youth in Action Campaign

Youthlink serves as the communication center for the voice of youth worldwide and houses the programs and solutions of the Youth in Action Campaign. Visitors can find opportunities and links to: Events, Programs/Internships, Scholarships/Awards, and Volunteering. This site provides youth an opportunity to speak out on-line through chat rooms, letter-writing campaigns, and to participate in platforms about political and community issues affecting them. Youthlink also houses a Shared Resource Database, which is cooperatively built to gather and share information more effectively with youth and the organizations that serve them.

Kids Care is a nationwide charity with members all over the country and world. Operated by the Child Charitable Development Association, Inc., Kids Care provides children, families, schools, and religious groups with meaningful opportunities to help others in their local and global communities. Registering (free online) allows access to tools, projects, materials, and other information useful for starting a Kids Care Club.

Minnesota Alliance With Youth

The Minnesota Alliance with Youth is the Minnesota initiative of the America’s Promise movement. The Alliance movement is a statewide alliance that assists communities in expanding access to existing resources and programs, providing children and youth with access to the Five Promises. Explore the Minnesota Mentoring Database to search for mentoring opportunities and ways to encourage mentoring in your community. Read the on-line magazine Promise Press, learn how to become a Community of Promise, and explore what present Communities of Promise are doing with youth in Minnesota.

National Service-Learning Clearinghouse Adjunct ERIC Clearinghouse on Service-Learning

Funded by Learn and Serve America, the National Service-Learning Cooperative Clearinghouse serves as a national resource on service-learning. The Clearinghouse is a comprehensive information system that focuses on all dimensions of service-learning, covering kindergarten through higher education school-based, as well as community-based initiatives.
