2/11 Is More than Just Giving Hearts Day

Imagine your life for a second. You have a good job, you make enough money to provide for you and your family, and you never worry about not having a place to sleep at night.

Now imagine if you did not have those things or if you lost them suddenly due to a medical issue or loss of job. You go from worrying about how your children will grow up to worrying about how you are going to feed them tonight.

What do you do now? You have never been in this situation before? How do you find help?

There is hope and it can be found by calling 2-1-1! 2-1-1 is a free, easy to remember national number dedicated to helping people find the help and answers they need when they may not be sure where to turn. 2-1-1 call centers across the country provide vital information on community resources and human service agencies that can help. FirstLink is proud to be one of these call centers.

FirstLink answers the 2-1-1 Helpline for the state of North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota. We are available 24 hours a day to connect people with the resources they need, provide a nonjudgmental listening ear when they need to talk, or help them find opportunities to volunteer in their community. In 2015, FirstLink answered a record number of 53,748 calls. Every caller was assessed for their needs and given information appropriate for those needs, whether it was food assistance, financial assistance, abuse counseling, or emergency safe shelter information.

2-11-16 is Giving Hearts Day but to FirstLink it is much more. 2-11 is a day to celebrate all of the good that 2-1-1 does in our community and across the nation. We are here and we will be here everyday, every hour, every minute to help! Please help us continue to provide this vital resource by supporting us on 2-11-16 by donating online at impactgiveback.org. Hope begins here!
