Care & Support Program

The purpose of the FirstLink Care and Support Program is to provide confidential emotional support to those experiencing mental health concerns, suicidal ideation, or substance use through phone calls, caring cards, or texts.

The program offers research-informed, supportive interventions from studies on suicide prevention, access to treatment, and continuity of care. Participants are referred from partnering hospitals and clinics across North Dakota. Participants may also sign themselves up to receive calls from the Care and Support team by calling FirstLink’s 2-1-1 Helpline or the 9-8-8 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Eligible individuals include anyone who is experiencing mental health concerns, suicidal ideation, and/or substance use. Participants must be above the age of 14 or have a parent/guardian’s verbal consent. Each phone call is structured around the participants’ needs and goals with calls being made on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.

For more information on how to partner your healthcare facility or organization with the Care and Support Program, please call FirstLink’s administrative office at (701) 293-6462 and ask to speak to the Program Coordinator, or email the team at [email protected].
